% New visits


The new visit rate is the percentage of visits who are visiting the website for the first time. The new visit rate is calculated as the number of visits who accepts a new cookie divided by the total number of visits. If the new visit rate is calculated for individual web pages or a group of web pages, it indicates which content is viewed by new visitors. A new visit is identified by means of a cookie. This means that the new visit rate is distorted by visitors who do not accept and/or delete cookies.


% Direct


The direct entry rate is the percentage of visits who enter the website directly.Direct entry is defined as a visit that does not include an external referrer (i.e. a used link from an external website). Notice that a visit can enter directly in a number of ways. (1) The Visitor can type in a domain or URL of the website in the address line of the browser. (2) The visitor can use a bookmark in the browser, if it exists. (3) The visitor can reuse a domain or URL from the browser’s cache and which therefore appears in the address line. (4) The visitor can initiate a new visit after having been inactive for 30 minutes on a specific page. If the direct entry rate is calculated for individual web pages or a group of web pages, it indicates which content is viewed by visits who enter directly.

The search engine rate is the percentage of visits who are visiting the website through a search engine. The search engine rate is calculated as the number of visits who enter through a search engine divided by the total number of visits. If the search engine rate is calculated for individual web pages or a group of web pages, it indicates which content is viewed by search engines visits.


% Campaign


The campaign rate is the percentage of visits who enter the website through an external link, which includes parameters indicating that the link is part of a campaign. To track campaigns, you need to add the relevant parameters to your campaign links. See Campaign Tagging. The campaign rate is calculated as the number of visits who enter through an external link divided by the total number of visits. If the campaign rate is calculated for individual web pages or a group of web pages, it indicates which content is viewed by visits from campaigns.

The link traffic rate is calculated as the number of visits who enter through an external link divided by the total number of visits. If the link traffic rate is calculated for individual web pages or a group of web pages, it indicates which content is viewed by link traffic visits.

The email rate is the percentage of visits who enter the website through an email link, which includes parameters indicating that the link is part of an email campaign.
