Whether you choose to filter a specific chart/table or an entire dashboard, it is the same filter dialog which is used to define the filter. The dialog consists of a tree view with segmentation variables and a number of filtering options.


Include

This option is selected by default and will confine your data to the segments you select (included segments are indicated by ).


Exclude

When this option is selected, your analysis will exclude the segments you select (excluded segments are indicated by ). You can combine an infinite number of inclusions and exclusions in one filter.


Refresh preview

This option is only available in some chart/table wizards. It allows you to see the effect of your filter immediately in a preview window.

Sort by visit

Clicking on  enables you to sort segments descending by visits when expanding a segmentation variable (for more information, see How to find a segment by means of search and sorting).


Sort alphabetically

Clicking on  enables you to sort segments alphabetically when expanding a segmentation variable (for more information, see How to find a segment by means of search and sorting).
